World of Threads Festival, 2026~2027
I am overjoyed to announce ‘Sun Daughter’ has been selected to participate in the 2026~2027 World of Threads Festival, a leading local & international showcase of contemporary fibre & textile art since 2012.
Curators Gareth Bate and Dawne Rudman begin each festival tabula rasa. Utilizing synchronistic curating to create wholly compelling exhibitions, festival themes emerge organically after reviewing thousands of submissions from artists around the world.
In our modern, mechanistic, more is more narrative driven by tech and AI, tending fibre with our hands becomes a radical act of devotion, truth telling, remembrance, and defiance. This year, fibre & textile artists from 22 countries present emotional and evocative work inspired by water, nature, heritage, tradition, adornment, war, displacement, and reclamation.
